Night Light Readers

Terms of Use

Last updated 27 August 2026

The short version: be decent to the people in your clubs, do not post anything you would not say to their faces, and your account is yours to keep or delete. The longer version follows.

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Night Light Readers ("we", "us") covering the Night Light Readers app and the website at nightlightreaders.com (together, "the service"). By creating an account you accept them and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

2. Your account

You must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for keeping your password private and for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using it. One person, one account.

3. Your content

Your shelves, reviews, messages, posts, club names and logos are yours. You keep every right to them. So that the service can work, you give us a licence to store, copy and show that content to the people you have chosen to share it with (your clubs and friends), for as long as your account exists. When you delete something, the licence for it ends.

You are responsible for what you post. Only post content you have the right to post.

4. Objectionable content and abuse are not tolerated

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You may not use the service to:

How this is enforced. Every message and every profile can be reported from inside the app, and anyone can be blocked. A human reviews reports and acts within 24 hours. We may remove content, remove someone from a club, or close an account, without notice, for breaking these rules. Club owners and moderators can also remove content and members from their own clubs.

5. Clubs

A club is a private space run by its owner. Owners and moderators decide who joins, what the club reads, and what stays posted. Joining a club means the other members can see what you share with it. Leaving a club does not delete what you posted while you were a member; delete it first if you want it gone.

6. Book information

Book details and covers are provided by Open Library and are used to help you identify books. They belong to their respective rights holders. If you hold rights in a cover or description shown in the app and want it removed, email us and we will act promptly.

7. The service itself

The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We work hard to keep it running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or stop parts of the service, and we will give reasonable notice of anything that matters.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free account is nothing.

8. Ending things

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, or by asking us (see the account deletion page). We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Sections 3, 7 and 9 survive the end of the agreement.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where the law lets us choose, disputes will be heard in the courts of Texas.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
