You can delete your Night Light Readers account yourself, in the app, in under a minute. If you no longer have the app, email us and we will do it for you.
In the app
- Open Night Light Readers and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab, then Settings.
- Open Account.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Without the app
Email support@nightlightreaders.com from the email address on your account with the subject "Delete my account". We will confirm the request with you and delete the account within 7 days. We use the sending address to verify it is you, so please write from the address you signed up with.
Delete some of your data
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove something. In Night Light Readers you can, at any time:
- Delete any chat or discussion message you wrote (long-press the message, then Delete).
- Remove books from your shelves, and remove your ratings, reviews and reading progress with them.
- Leave a club, which removes your membership from it.
- Replace or remove a club logo you uploaded.
Each of these deletes that data from our server right away. For anything else - or if you would rather we do it - email support@nightlightreaders.com from your account email and say what you want removed; we act within a few days. Copies in our encrypted backups age out within 30 days, the same as full account deletion.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account, at once:
- your account and sign-in details;
- your profile and display name;
- your shelves, ratings, reading progress, reviews and notes;
- your club memberships, and any club where you were the last member. A club that still has other members is not deleted: it gets a new owner, the longest-standing moderator or, if it has none, the longest-standing member;
- club logos you uploaded;
- messages and discussion posts you wrote;
- your votes, favourites, friendships, blocks and reports;
- push notification tokens for your devices.
Copies in our encrypted backups age out within 30 days. Nothing is kept beyond that.
Want your data first?
Before deleting, you can export your shelf: in the app, open Settings, then Your data, then Export. You get a CSV file that other reading apps can import.
